MR. CAMILLE J. ROSBERT, AVG & CNAC

Naval aviator and AVG "Flying Tiger" Flight Leader and fighter ace:  Originally trained as a  pilot on mulit-engine, flying boat patrol planes.   Following AVG service, Rosbert, like many other AVG pilots joined China National Aviation Corporation and flew supplies to China.  On one of his many flights over the "Hump,"  his DC-3/C-47 iced-up and crashed onto a Himalayan mountain top.  The violent crash killed his radio operator and shattered his right ankle, but in what must be one of the Second World War's the most remarkable adventures of surviving the elements, Rosbert and his co-pilot walked down from the Himalayas, crossed a sweltering jungle and returned to their air base in Din Jan, India.  Following the War, Rosbert went to work as the operations manager for General Chennault's CAT Airline.   Leaving CAT in the mid 1950's, Rosbert began a second career operating resort hotels in Europe.  As an author, he has written both an autobiography and the definitive history of CAT Airlines.
