MR. JACK SAMSON, USAAF (RET) Author,
reporter/war correspondent for United Press, editor of a prestigious
national magazine, combat veteran of the 14th Air Force,
and business associate and friend of Lt. General Claire Chennault.
Trained as an Army Air Force bombardier, Samson first saw
combat in Europe, while assigned to a North American B-25 medium
bomber squadron that flew anti-submarine missions from England.
Following his tour of duty in the European Theatre of Operations,
Samson volunteered for duty with General Chennault's 14th Air Force.
Once in China, Samson was assigned as a bombardier/radar
bombardier with the 308th Heavy Bombardment Group, flying the
Consolidated B-24 bomber. After
the war, Samson returned to China, where he worked for Chennault and his
China based civilian airline.
As a war correspondent, Samson covered the War in Korea.
Following Korea, Samson went into the magazine publishing
business and also became a successful author.
In 1987, Samson authored a highly regarded biography on the life
of Chennault, titled "Chennault." |
